  4. Bushes galloping to the top of a hill:
  5. some have already arrived and are waiting
  6. for a ride on a cloud.
  7. If you hop on a cloud you can ride to France,
  8. and join the foreign bushes in a dance.

  11. Houses are all built out of bricks in December
  12. by shading in crossword squares
  13. with a damp pencil. The streets are paved with muffins
  14. and bits of something.

  17. The Sun wishes to speak.
  18. Silence! The Sun wishes to speak.
  19. Silence!
  20. Now he has gone behind a cloud, grumbling.

  23. Towards the ending of the way,
  24. where the footprints thin out
  25. and even the thick-skinned become uncertain,
  26. you can just hear a beating in the air.

  30. losing the will to fly,
  31. crash from on high to Earth,
  32. screaming with lightning.

  35. There will be a row
  36. such as you never heard
  37. when all the hounds break in
  38. to bay at this little mouse.

  41. By offsetting the centres,
  42. by staggering the brush-marks,
  43. one can balance blocks of flats
  44. on one another, higher than the clouds.
